Safety 1st SecureTech Metal Gate is a child safety stair gate: the double-lock safety release makes it difficult for toddlers 6 months – 2 years old to open the gate (Safety 1st strongly recommend to always keep an eye on the child, since children quickly become more independent. Children should never be left unattended). The Safety 1st SecureTech Metal Gate has an extra wide passage section and opens with one hand. Simply press the buttons on the handle to open the gate and slam or push it to close it. The visual indicator SecurTech confirms whether the stair gate is securely closed (green indicator means locked, red means unlocked).
In addition to the ergonomic handle, Safety 1st SecureTech Metal Gate is extra wide to be comfortable to walk through. Open the safety gate in one or both directions, depending on where the child gate is mounted.
Assembly requires no drilling, but includes a simple push-fit fitting for a secure fit. If the space you are fitting the gate is larger than 80 cm, you may wish to consider our Safety 1st Gate Extensions (sold separately) especially designed for mounting in larger openings. Safety 1st offers a range of 7cm, 14cm or 28cm gate extensions to extend the Safety 1st SecureTech Metal Gate up to 136 cm. In addition, Safety 1st also offers an additional accessory called a Safety 1st Y-spindle, to fit on stair railings (sold separately).
WARNING: Please be aware that one side of the frame will be at an angle when you remove it from the box but this is part of the design. It’s the feature and the benefit that creates the pressure to hold the gate in place. This play closes when the child safety gate is correctly mounted in the door frame.

Bough from amazon warehouse and in perfect condition other than an open box and the zipties cut (did not affect how easy it was to install).I think a lot of people return these thinking they are bent out of the box – they are meant to be to ensure a tight fit! When you install them and screw them tight, the bent post then goes straight which is explained in the instructions, but perhaps not in the clearest way.Works fine as a stairgate but if it is even slightly out of level (which can be a bit tricky to get perfect) the gate will swing open/closed if unlocked. A bit more resistance on the gate hinge would be nice so it was less likely to swing about if not level but its a very minor issue especially as its sold as a basic stair gate.

I used this ‘gate’ in a doorway. It’s easy to use for adults, but young children would definitely find it difficult to operate. Easy to install.

On the positive side, it does the job it’s designed to do, and is a fair price, compared to may others on the market. I watched the youtube instructions video to help me assemble and install it, as I found the instruction leafet that came with it, difficult to understand, and I have a degree in engineering. The lock system can be used with one hand which is a huge bonus. Unfortunately, there was a small, sharp metal cut on the frame, which could catch a small childs fingers, so I returned it but unfortunately, the second one I ordered had unfinished plastic on the lock assembly, meaning, another jagged edge for little hands to find sharp. So overall, the quality was poor finish. I’ve had to stick with the second one and file down the jagged to avoid hand cuts.

Very good stair gate. It is sturdy and safe. The design is well thought out, it is tall enough for the hinges of the door and is very easy to open and close with one hand.Instal is a little fiddly and can take some time to get spot on, but when put on, it is sturdy and feel safe that it will do the job.

Got these to keep my son out of the cat stuff now that he’s moving around and I’m super happy with the product. Really easy to put in, 2 different options on how to keep them in place, they look exactly like the picture, not too tall but tall enough to keep a toddler from climbing over and they’re really easy to open and close. I bought 2 and they expanded perfectly for the 2 different spots I needed them. Super happy!

This is the second one I bought same fault as the other one, the lock does not line up. The bar is not straight it is at almost 5cm out. Ordered replacement keys hope replacement is actually straight.Update: The replacement I have received is perfect so I have upgraded it to 3 stars. I believe this raiting it right because the lock mechanism is not the greatest of quality ita felt cheap but serves it’s purpose and although the manual is bright and colourful it’s not very informative. I just guessed what hardware to use and I feel I have done a good job.

Bought this to keep dogs from leaving our kitchen when wet. Fitted perfectly and easily. Not too awkward to open, unlike some. Been using it for a year and it still works perfectly.

I bought this stair gate a fews days ago and arrived relatively fast. The only reason it doesn’t have 5 stars is because the product arrived partially damaged, but still fully functional. Mostly easy to install, works well for what it needs. The lock feature requires more attention to operate than other stair gates as you have to have it unlocked to close the door, to then have it closed safely. The gate also doesn’t close and stays open which I find handy for when baby is in bed, but that means you have to give it your full attention to close, rather than quickly shut close.

Height is great and easy to use l, set up is easy and no screws needed. I like the red marker that turns green when you tighten it to the door frame to let you know that there is adequate pressure for the gate.
